Cast Away Candle

By kicking me into the dark you have sent me light
There in the dark are scurrying, others like me,
thrown out for little things, put out of the way,
doused heavily with water to put out their fire.
But then you threw
me
in the dark and
I
have found a way.
Now they all scurry to me, a leader born.
I will use the darkness to shroud me from your eyes.
The night you cast over me will be my friend and ally.
You won't be looking in the dark for candles,
much less forest fires.
The cast down will rally to me for:

You have sent the scurrying one still of fire
and I will light within their hearts blazes unimagined.
