There was this girl crying,
in that dark corner.
What a cliche she was,
she always thought.
That phone is ringing
in that tone,
crying like she always is.
She asked her,
"Why don't you answer?"
"I'm not because
I know who it is."
She continued to cry
and the darkness crept
closer than she could
crawl father away.
"Who was on the phone?"
"He was."
"Why don't you answer?"
The girl looked at her
with those sad
angel eyes
and she whispered,
"He makes me laugh,
he makes me safe,
he makes me feel like me."
She looked at the girl,
in the dark,
"Why don't you answer?"
