The Echoes of Epiphany

I remember now,

So clearly,

So clearly,

The straining of the rope,

The fraying of the knot,

It's pressure sent a surge

Of unimaginable pleasure

Coursing through the body.

This end seemed perfect,

Stimulating,

Climatic,

For darkness can twist one's soul

Creating illusions of blackened eternity.

~

I remember now,

So clearly,

So clearly,

Your presence in that room,

The dagger in your hand,

Shimmering under the overhanging light bulb,

The streams broken apart,

Skewed by the beating of the fan.

~

I remember now,

So clearly,

So clearly,

The way the silver flew through the air,

The sudden sense of vertigo,

Cloaking the body in nausea,

Broken by the gentle thud of my body,

As it reached impact with the ground.

~

I remember now,

So clearly,

So clearly,

That smile on your face,

The warmth of your comforting arms

Encircling my shaken body,

Vanquishing the darkness of my mind.

~

I remember now,

So clearly,

So clearly,

The reasons for this cross,

To be forever draped around my neck.

~

This feeling of unease,

Washes over the soul,

When someone jokingly creates a noose,

But then I feel my cross,

And remember that night,

So clearly,

So clearly.
