Epilogue

Friday, December 19

Our school was having a Christmas party/Ice cream social.

So, basically everyone was there. Including her.

She'd basically been avoiding me for the past month, and I couldn't blame her. I mean, I'd been keeping so many secrets from her. I didn't expect her to trust me.

So I decided to walk over to her.

"Lauren?" I said.

She turned to look at me. "Where have you been?"

"Uh…traffic?" I replied feebly.

She sighed. "I don't buy that for a second. Oh, well. Let's just talk."

So we talked. We walked while we talked.

Oh, man…that sounds so Dr. Seuss.

She finally asked it. "What was going on before…around Halloween?"

"It's over now," I said. "It's gone."

"You know I can't accept that as an answer…"

I sighed.

"But I know you'll tell me," she finished. "When you're ready."

We stopped walking. Lauren looked up. "Oh, look," she said, pointing. "Mistletoe."

She looked back at me. We moved closer…and closer…

A/N: "Love is in the air!" Oh, the fluff! Well, that's basically how I wanted it to end. Thanks to everyone who reviewed, and some other select people:

Kapola Nuva, for always reminding me to write more.

KopakaX, who gave me the "Requiem for a Dream" song mentioned back in chapter 18. He also inspired me to write more through are countless IM chats, each more interesting than the last (especially the one last night…), and his own trilogies, The Chronicles of Darkness and Light.

Kayleigh, a friend of mine who reviewed the story and was also whom the character "Karen" was based on (Please, don't hurt me! :P ).

Grim Spirit, who was the first to review and to actually like my story.

HauNuva, who hasn't read the story, but that's because he wanted to wait until I was finished. He's also been a great inspiration, with his Exosphere story and his flattering remarks (Seriously, I'm not as good as you, HN!)
