Title: Ameagari

Author: Mizery-Rose (LoveSasa)

Summary: Ameagari. After the rain. Money, drugs, booze, friends, sex, and rain... Welcome to the life of a rock star.

Author's Notes: All original characters and plot, copyright me. Any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental. "Ameagari" is Japanese for "after the rain." Please review. Tell me what you liked, what you didn't, and what you'd like to see. Thank you, and enjoy.

Also, The bathroom scene may be a bit confusing to those not used to Japanese style layouts. Basically, there is the main room of the bathroom, and a second room for the shower, bath, etc.

Chapter 3

Rays of the sun were filtering through the blinds as Tai's eyes parted slightly before fluttering closed again. He let out a slight groan, rolling onto his stomach, burying his face into his pillow and pulling the crisp white sheets over his head, as if to protect himself from the light. Crisp white sheets. He didn't have crisp white sheets. He opened his eyes and sat bolt upright, blinded for a moment by the sun, the sheet still clinging to his head. "Fuck..." Blinking his eyes a few times to rid them of morning grime, he slowly looked about him, the sheet falling back to the bed as he took in his surroundings. The mattress was laid on a small wooden platform, next to it was a matching wooden desk, and across from the foot of the bed was a television sitting slightly elevated on yet another wooden stand.

The flooring itself was covered in traditional tatami matting, and the walls were a mellow off-white. Even after taking all of this in, Tai was still unsure of where he was, though that wasn't an uncommon event. He'd woken up numerous places before without being able to remember getting there, though this was by far the nicest of any of them. Small room, but quaintly stylish. He found himself wondering what the rest of the place looked like, and what the owner was like. He'd find out soon enough. Grunting, he pulled himself out of bed and stood up, stretching to get his muscles in working order again. He'd slept in his boxers, but his clothes were stacked and folded on the desk beside the bed. Apparently they had been washed for him, and as he picked them up he caught a waft of a familiar scent, but he was unable to discern just where he'd smelled it before.

Taking the stack, he set off to find the bathroom, and was happy to find that it was almost directly across the hall from where his room had been. Setting his clothing next to the sink, he ran a comb found there through his hair quickly before replacing it, and he stepped into the room holding the shower. Noting the green marble-like tiling for the room, he mad a mental note of the traditional-but-not-quite style of the place he had noticed so far. Stripping, he set his boxers on a small bench and turned on the shower, testing its water before stepping into its warm embrace. Using a bar of soap already in the shower, he cleaned himself off, figuring that whoever had given him lodgings overnight probably wouldn't mind, nor would they want to think that they had drug in a bum who didn't know how to clean himself properly. He chuckled at the thought, and set down the soap, rinsing off.

Picking up a bottle of shampoo, he squirted a bit into his hand and replaced it. As Tai massaged the stuff into his hair, the smell of it filled the room, not at all unpleasant. Again, familiar. Why was everything about this place so familiar? He still couldn't place any of it. He couldn't place much of anything anymore. After finishing up in the shower, he turned off the stream of water and shook his head, running his hands through his hair a bit to get rid of the excess liquid. Stepping out of the shower, he picked up a towel off of the bench and rubbed it over his head a few times before wrapping it around his waist. It was off-white, like the walls of the guest room had been, smelling faintly of the oh-so-familiar scent. Vanilla. The name of it came to him. It smelled like vanilla. Now if only he could place that somewhere.

As he walked into the main body of the bathroom, he found a still-boxed toothbrush and a bottle of toothpaste placed conveniently on the counter, along with a disposable razor. He couldn't remember those being there earlier. An involuntary shudder went up his spine at the thought of someone wandering into the bathroom as he was showering, but there wasn't much he could have done about it. The main door didn't have a lock, and he hadn't thought of checking the door to the shower section. Sighing to himself, he opened the toothbrush and squirted a bit of paste onto it, then proceeded to brush his teeth. Finally convinced that his breath was minty fresh, he ran the comb through his hair again and dressed, checking himself in the mirror before hanging back up the towel and walking out of the bathroom. Time to figure out where he was.

After walking a few paces down the hallway, Tai found himself at the entrance of the house, near the tatami room. Somehow he'd known where it would be. Eyeing his shoes, he decided not to risk finding out that something had happened last night that he really didn't want to remember. Bending down to tie his shoes, the guitarist didn't notice the figure immerging from the tatami room. "Oh good morning Tai..." He cursed under his breath and stood up, turning to face the robe-clad man addressing him. Upon sight of the pink hair, everything came back at full speed. The cool voice, the smell of vanilla, and the memories of having been there before suddenly clicked in his mind. Tai didn't bother with pleasantries, or even with asking what had happened. He simply opened the door and bolted.

Author's End-note: Many apologies for taking so long. I'd explain, but that would take away from my time in working on the next chapter, now wouldn't it? I know this one is kind of short, but I figured I'd get something up before readers started sicking rabid prairie dogs on me. So for now, I leave you with this. Remember, constructive criticism is always appreciated. I like nice comments too. They make me warm and fuzzy inside, as well as making me write faster. ^.~
