The Scrolls of Tar Dashan

Chapter 1- Blood

She ran through the woods, still hearing the sounds of the dogs. Her breath came out in short, side-splitting gasps as though she was drowning in the post dawn air. In the forest, the air seemed saturated with violence and it lay heavily upon her barely covered skin, her pure blue-black hair lying limp down her back. The brown leather bag she held close to her was what the people chasing her were after.

The Star of L'tria.

The symbol of the Dark Goddess, the Eternal Star Mother. A fist sized sapphire set with diamonds and amethysts and etched with the family crest of the royal family of Senath, the Tar Dashan. the crest glittered in the sooty moonlight. The symbols of the Tar Dashan, the wolf, the panther, the falcon and the moon phases seemed to almost jump out at her. Then she heard a snapping of leaves.

She stuffed into the bag and turned quickly, seeing one fo the giant hell hounds leap at her. The dog snarled and she fell, fully expecting the dogs teeth to rip her throat open and feast on her warm blood. She opened her eyes and saw a dark stranger kneeling over her.

"Are you alright?" He growled, jerking her to her feet, "Did the dog touch you?"

She shook her head numbly as she took the leather sack he handed her. Then he turned, walking away when suddenly the girl shrieked and ran toward him, throwing her arms around his chest and digging the gem into the skin over his heart.

"Please! Please help me. my name is Ariania and I'm a dedicated from the temple of L'tira." She sobbed, "I've never even been outside the temple before. please help me get to Tar Dashan. I need to find the prince. Please, I beg of you."

The man's eyes darkened in fury. "A jitat'n priestess. Absolutely jitat'n wonderful. Look lady, I don't give a jitat about the bri'sh'n goddess of darkness and I definitely don't give a jitat about you. Go back to your temple and leave me the jitat alone."

The man turned to leave and then the world fell on top of him, knocking him senseless.
