Chapter 1
I am a born samurai. Since my father is one, that is my path also. My name is Tenchi Tsunagi. But, here in Japan, I am an outcast. I look nothing like my mother, father, or anyone that even lives here. It's all my hair! Why is it such a light brown??? Or, why are my eyes green?!? Its all because of those two things that I have lived here, being very lonely of course.
One day, as the other kids my age, 16, were telling me to leave Japan because I don't belong, I decided to take a little walk. I felt that I needed to gather my thoughts and just try to think of why I look so different. Of course, I could ask my mother or father, but I am sure they would just say something like, "Your not different. Don't worry about it." But, in this year, of 1413, I had to worry, because the way I was headed, I would never have any friends.
This whole time, on my walk, I was just thinking about that, when I knocked into someone and fell over. It was a girl, who looked about my age. But, she was also different, I mean, she has the brightest yellow hair. And had blue eyes. I got up, and said, "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention." "Oh, that's okay, neither was I," she said with a laugh. But, I could see that she had been crying earlier, because her eyes were all red and puffy. "Whats wrong?" I asked, but then I though, "Maybe I shouldn't get into her business." "Oh, it's nothing, I mean, it's something, but it is a very long story to tell. How about we sit down and have some tea, my treat."
There I was, actually sitting and having tea with someone other than my mother or father! She got us the tea, and sat down. Then she started her story, "My japanese name was Kari Musagi. But, then I found out that that is not my real name. I am a foreign princess. My name is Gabrielle the First. Well, first of all, there was a king and queen. The queen told the king how she was with a child, and he was very happy! But, the queen had..well..I'm not the king's daughter, I'll say that. So, my mother had an affair, and had me. Then, there was a battle, and the king got wounded very badly, and it as likely he would die, and he did. But before he did, my mother wanted to tell him it wasn't his child, and she did. But, he took it surprisingly well. But as you can imagine, rumors started to spread. The main one was that the queen killed the king by telling him that I wasn't his daughter. The queen got poisoned, and so did my father. And, there were so many people out to kill me, because they thought I caused the king's whole death! The guards were getting very desperate. So, one day, when a Japanese merchant came to trade goods, they begged him to take me with him and raise me as his own. And, they would come back when the kingdom needed me, when they had no one else to turn to, because I do have a little royal blood in my. I heard, the same thing happened to who I was betrothed to when I was just 1. But, as you can imagine, that is why I have been crying, because I have been longing to hear why I look so different, but I never thought it could be so painful to hear it. I told you it was a very long story, but that is all to it," she finished, and took a big drink of tea.
