Trinity tried to get out of the bed as Michael held her good arm. Swinging her legs over the ledge she fumbled for the pair of hospital pants that he had given her at her side. Not being able to bend over Michael helped her put on the pants and stood her up so she could pull them on all the way.

"Thank you so much you have no idea how much this means to me," Trinity said as she slipped on a pair of hospital slippers with Michael's help.

"Don't worry about it. And you don't have to pay me back. I needed to spend the money somewhere it was just burning a hole in my pocket," Michael said in a light voice with a smile on his gentle face.

Shaking her head while trying to walk with Michael's hand around her waist steadying her as she held onto his shoulder to balance her self. She didn't care what he said. She was still going to pay him back. It was the least she could do for him. As soon as she got better and was able to get a job she would pay him back every penny he spent on her.

Michael held onto Trinity tightly afraid that if he let go for one second that she would topple down and break another bone. She was so unbalanced it was amazing that she had made it this far. Coming up to his truck in the garage he opened the door and picked her up and put her inside and buckled her in. Climbing in on the other side he felt her eyes on him and turned to meet her gaze. Starting up the car he turned on the radio and drove toward his apartment.

Trinity relaxed in the leather seat of the truck and listened to rock on the radio. She never really got into the whole rock scene trying to search her mind. Certain things she remembered but others she did not. The same aching question kept bothering her what had happened to her to make her get in this position?

Michael pulled up to his apartment and got out of the truck and pulled Trinity out. Helping her up stairs that led to the main entrance he opened the door for her and helped her through. Taking the elevator up to his floor he watched her through the corner of his eye. She was resting her head on his shoulder and her eyes were barely open. He could tell that she was tired. All the physical activity she had been through in the last thirty minuets would make anyone tired that was in her condition. Walking her into his apartment he turned on a couple of lights and picked her up and carried her to his bedroom and placed her in his bed.

"Where will you sleep at?" Trinity asked in a sleepy voice.

"Don't worry about me you just sleep and get better okay," Michael said peeling Trinity off him and standing straight up.

"Okay," Trinity said barely loud enough for Michael to hear her.

Michael watched her fall asleep. She looked so fragile and beautiful even with all the scars on her face and body. Stepping back from the bed he walked quietly out of the room and walked down the hallway and crashed on the couch.

****Week later

A week later Trinity woke up from her long off and on sleep to find Michael in the room with a towel wrapped around his lower body. She looked at his toned body. It was well curved and defined without being overbearingly muscled; his black hair was ruffled and spiked. Watching him go through his clothes she tried to remain quiet for as long as she could. Feeling him sense that she was awake she announced her presence.

"Thank you," Trinity said with a low voice and made Michael jump slightly.

"Your welcome. How are you feeling?" Michael asked still looking through his drawer for jeans to go with his shirt.

"Better. How long have I been here?"

"About a week, you wake up for awhile then you would go back to sleep," Michael said while pulling out a pair of jeans and shutting the drawer. "Are you hungry I could go pick something up from a café down the street if you like?"

"Sure, a smoothie would be great if they have some there."

"All you want is a smoothie. Aren't you hungry?" Michael asked looking at Trinity. She had lost lots of weight. She was skinny to begin with but after being bedridden for the past week she lost even more weight.

"You can pick me up something but I doubt that I'll will be able to eat it. Can you do me a favor?" Trinity asked pulling the cover away from her body reveling her exposed stomach because her hospital slip had ridden up her body. Looking down at her stomach she saw a bandage. Pulling up her shirt more she studied the bandage and reveled her chest.

Michael still looking at Trinity waiting for what she wanted watched her look at her bandage revealing her chest. "What do you want me to do?" he asked turning his head from her and studying the jeans and shirt he had in his hands.

"Can you help me to the bathroom so I can take a bath?" Trinity asked and put down her hospital slip.

"Sure. Just let me get dressed and run you some water."

"Okay," Trinity said and watched as he left her in the room by herself. Looking around the room she took in the scenery. The bedroom wasn't really fancy. Big bed with maroon blanket and a dresser, clock stand, computer desk with an Apple flat screen computer and a large flat screen TV at the opposite end of the room. Turning her attention back to the door she waited for Michael to come back.

Michael walked back to his bedroom with a robe in his hand. Trinity watched him as he came to her side of the bed and pulled the covers off of her and lifted her upper body towards him. Picking her up to her feet and helping her down the hallway he handed her a toothbrush and soap.

"Thanks," Trinity said balancing her weight on the counter in the bathroom as he set up everything for her. "Can you help me take off my pants I still can't bend down?" Trinity asked hating the way that she was so helpless.

"Sure," Michael said and lifted her onto the counter and pulled down her pants feeling his hands gently graze her skin. Pulling her down from the counter letting her slip fall down to her knees. "There you go, I'll be back with some food for you and a smoothie," he said and watched as she smiled at him and thanked him again.
