Author's Notes:

This piece of poetry came to me as I was standing outside in the cold
freezing winter air, with only my clothing a sweater and a scarf, no over
coat.

As I Stand Here

as the wind whips around the bend
my hair flutters all around
but I do not turn, nor move away
not with my feet firmly upon the ground

as the cold air envelops me
covers me in a blanket of snow
i feel not the ice
but the emptiness below

i see couples close together
beneath the moonlight sky
i feel a tear slide down my cheek
as I begin to cry

i feel no comfort, i feel no warmth
as my heart turns to ice
no there to hold me warm
as i stand here beneath the night

i feel a pain growing within my heart
a loneliness i have felt for so long
no one there to comfort my tears
no one's arms do i belong
