Scarlet Ribbons

One.
You say she's questionable
Her clothes, all black,
Her skin, pale white,
For that, you say, she's
Untrustworthy.
You judge her by her scarlet ribbons.
Two.
You say she's suspicious
Deceiving, unpredictable
Her face shady, her words shaky
For that, you say, she's
Not worthy of your time.
You judge her by her scarlet ribbons.
Three.
You think she's twisted
Unqualified, unwilling
Her thoughts unfocused
For that, you say, she's
Ineligible, unimportant.
You judge her by her scarlet ribbons.
Four.
She thinks you're full of shit
Immoral, untrue, arrogant
Closed minded, improper
For that, she says, she
Doesn't care about you.
And she judged you based on truth.
A/N - - - Scarlet ribbons, in this poem, stands for a metaphor for the way
a person looks, how they appear to others, and they way they present
themselves. In this poem, "she", an unknown character, has opinions formed
about her because she looks different. And she's only being true to
herself, staying true to her Scarlet Ribbons. Ask yourself. What color are
YOUR ribbons? Is that how people see you? Maybe you should read the poem
over again if you don't get it by now.
