The City Of Stars
~
We used to sit out on our blanket,
And stare up into the dark sky,
We used to count the stars,
Id say how many there are, my grandfather would deny.
~
Just me and him, and the stars up there,
The wonderful stars so pretty,
I think when I looked in his eyes,
I could see the city,
The city of stars.
~
Each person is born a star,
That star would always be up there,
And each night when you went to bed,
You could see the star, so rare.
~
It will sit up there till you die,
Wait for you each night,
It will wait and wait for you to come,
And then come in sight.
~
And for a moment or two,
You'd acknowledge it,
Maybe smile, maybe frown,
And sometimes the star would wink, just a little bit.
~
And then you would grow old,
And so would this star,
And when the day came, and you pass away,
The star would be put in a jar.
~
And in this jar, it would wait,
Until a new baby is born,
And it can be free again,
Free again, Reborn.
