Scars

So many of them,
Some large, some small.
They all have a story to tell,
They all remind me of my past.
Bitterness and anger depicted in little criss-crossed lines,
Deep gashes showing the loneliness and sorrows.

The place where I wrote your name,
When I learned I had lost you forever,
The place where it went too deep,
And I almost lost myself as well.

Do you ever lose scars?
No.

Even if you can't see them on the outside,
They are still inside.

They are still carved across my heart.
