Dangling beneath my step
A chrysalis,
watched in quiet fascination.
Its tremulous green
Ruptures along one side
Like an opening eye
Or an aperture
Transcending the gates of time.
Slicked back antennae emerge
Catching life's frequency,
But I am off its wavelength.
And as it spreads its wings,
Dusting iridescence,
how wonderful
I imagine the feeling,
To break free of my chrysalis
Into beauty.
