For My Grandfather
Rest in Peace : Feb. 14th
Wondering around a lone, white-washed hospital. Gathering around a single bed, laying there a desperate man. Trying to fight back the death that overcomes him, hooked up to machines. Tubes everywhere, tangling together. Silence.
Sisters and brothers, neices and nephews, father and mothers. Generations together, mourning. Handing the papers to the next head of the family, signing his releasment into heaven. Watching the machines, shut down, turn off, beep for the last time.
Family huddled close, tears falling, sniffles trying to be held back. Nothing but sadness fills the room. His eyes flicker open, as if to see the last sight of his family. Only to close them for the last time. His body fighting back, his soul not wanting to give up. This strong man, being stubborn against death. Raising up against death...yet failing. Everything shuts down, there is a dead silence.
Everyone knows, he has lost the war with his life. Floating up into the sky above, being greeted with warm hugs from past family. Looking down and frowning, he has left. Smiling in happiness, knowing everyone will see him later on.
Tears, silence, hugs, sniffles, kisses. The usual quotes being said, but nothing is comforting. It takes a day to love someone, but a lifetime to forget someone.
I love you, Grandad.
