Night Lights
A bright white light of heaven shines.
It rests upon the black
and blue
To beam down sight by holy vines
And gleam to me a
peace not knew
Of gentle thoughts and sweeter days,
Which
spoke of cares and golden rays.
Its friends, the stars, were swept away
As envy filled them to
the brim
For they had found one bright as they
That pleased
me more, which left them dim.
So then I smile and then they
cheer,
A sign that hope was still yet near.
Across that wall of darkened night,
The timeless diamonds did
their best.
They sparkled in suspended flight
Delight to me
who could not rest.
Watching them as they watched me, we
Knew
harmony among us three.

Author's Note: A poem written during my junior year in high school. Created for my Lit. class. It had to slightly model William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud."
