"You might have heard them as legends.mysteries.and maybe even fairy tales. But the signs of the Zodiac are very much real. I am just another schoolboy.but I'm here to tell you my view, my story.of how our little suburban town is full of magic and mystery. And that we too, are not alone." a teenage boy set down his pencil to gaze upon his masterpiece. He brushed away his brownish blond bangs and smiled to himself.for the story he was writing was very much true.and very much alive. This is his story; of the how legends of heroes and princesses can turn into reality.

It all began in the small town of Darkfire.

"YO JOE!" a boy about 14 ran past another, "you moron, you didn't wait for me.again." The one who he was talking to, Joe or mostly know as Joey, just smirked.

"Just wanted to see if you could catch up, Alex. And what do you know, you did!" the sarcasm in Joey's voice made Alex want to punch that smirk right off his face.

"Idiot."

"Jerk." Like normal teenage boys, they insulted each other as much as possible. Alex and Joey weren't really enemies, long-time friends is more like it. They smiled at each other and to show their appreciation for each other, with a typical punch on the arm.

"So.back to school already." Alex looked up at the high school like it was prison, "We barely had any summer."

"Oh, suck it up crybaby! We had fun.now let's get in that stupid school and just get the first day of school over with!" they nodded in sync and walked into the hallway. Yet again, they opened their locker and headed into homeroom.fun, fun, fun.

-*

"Good morning class!" cried their overly cheerful teacher, Mrs. Claystood. Her overly pink cheeks, her size, and her nose reminded everyone in the class of a pig.that's been eating too much slop. "Well, what a wonderful bunch of children! You look so cute that I just want to eat you up!" Joey and Alex were sitting in seats next to each other. Lady Luck must be on their side because the boys were put in the same homeroom.for the 5th year in a row!

Joey gave a one of his classic smirks. "She probably would." Alex cracked up; his face bulged, his already wild hair flinging in an assortment of directions. The expression of the old lady immediately changed. Her pink cheeks changed to scarlet.

"Now boys.behave yourself.or you might find yourself in deep trouble." Mrs. Claystood's cheerful attitude soon flipped to a cold, dark side. Joey's eyes bulged.she was staring straight at them. Alex, however, didn't notice his teacher's remark. He went on howling like a coyote, smacking his fist upon the desk.

"MR. ALEX FOWLER!" her voice went back to her sweet self, "see me after class, would you?"

Alex's laughter immediately paused, his cheeks flushed crimson and he slumped in his seat. Mrs. Claystood smiled brightly again, "Now class, we have an exchange student from all the way from England. Say hello to Miss Virginia Howard." The class hunched over in their chairs, a new exchange student usually meant for the first time in a few small years, there would be some excitement in Homeroom 205. A sudden silence washed over the entire planet. The world seemed to be flowing in slow motion for the time being; tension rose in the air, until a purple shoe stepped though the door.

As the figure slowly came into view, everyone realized just what their eyes had set upon. Virginia was gorgeous; her blond hair was almost like gold, reaching exactly to the middle of her back. Her eyes as blue as a clear sky; Her figure was long and slender as though she was a tall pine tree. As for her clothes, they were the same as girl uniform: a blue mini-skirt and a purple and blue top and bow. The class stood in awe for a few minutes.

"Good morning." her voice was timid, like a deer running though a vast field, "What a pleasure it is to meet you all." she set her books down next to Ricky White, one of the pretty boys in class. His science paper was soaked with saliva; He had clearly been drooling. The bell ran out a loud echo in the large classroom. The class ran out of the room like a bunch of fan girls, chasing after their favorite singer.

Alex sat slumped in his chair, what was she going to do with him? Skin him alive; no.eat him, possibly.detention, most likely.give him a writing assignment, definitely.

"Alex Fowler, this is the first day of class and you are already in trouble. What am I going to do with you?" the boy's heart sank to the floor, "hm." Mrs. Claystood brushed though her drawers in her desk. "AH HA!" she shoved a bunch of papers under Alex's nose, "Now I'm sure you know much about the Legend of Darkfire.about how long ago, Virgo was pulled right out of the sky and her human form landed here in Darkfire. Her soul was taken in the form of young girl.I'd say about your age Alex. A great evil found her and planned on using her magic power to control the world.

"But a great hero came to save her. He braved the toughest challenges, solved the most complicated puzzles to rescue her. But he was too late.her magical soul was damaged so much that he couldn't do anything to repair it. So he gave something more then the love he felt for her.he gave his very being so that she could be restored to life. She was then again place up in the sky.he fell to his knees and died. And this all toke place in our little town.imagine that." Alex nodded; he had heard the story many times before.more then he ever need to hear in his life. But it was just a stupid legend, what did it have to do with him?

"Alex, I feel that you have very much potential so that is why I am giving you this project.I want you to write me a story about this legend.but by your prospective.."

He felt a rage running though his mind, "How am I suppose to do that?"

"Oh you'll see.you'll see." the teacher left the room. Alex stared at the stack of paper he had been given. 'But what did this have to do with him?'

"Darkness has come again," a voice filled the room. But no one was in it.Alex froze in fear, "a hero will rise again Alex. The world is in great danger." then voice vanished.

"Hey, man." Joey walked in, "why are you staring all around like you saw a ghost or something?"

"Cause I think I did."

Alex and Joey started on their journey to 1st period. Like always, their hallway discussions mostly were about girls, so as you might guess Virginia Howard came up in their conversation," Did you cheek out that new girl.she's a hot one." Joey began to drool. "But then again, I'm gonna have some major competition for that one.what do yah say Alex?"

"You might." he was staring into space, "I'm not falling for her though. The other guys are going to want a piece of her.so.there really isn't much point."
"You're only say that Alex because I'm so much sexier then you." Alex suddenly stopped staring into the great beyond.

"Are not."

"Are too and you know it."

"Are not."

"Are too."

"Are not." they shoved each other into the lockers over and over.but what they didn't know was that Virginia was standing right behind them.she tapped her elegant fingers on Alex's back.

"Excuse me.but I couldn't help but overhear.and I'm very flattered Joey," her rich English accent sounded like a chorus of angels, "but.I.well."

Joey's eyes widened the size of bowling balls and sheepishly retreated to a corner of the hallway; Alex squawked with laughter. Virginia smiled amiably."and you know I am fine with that. But just to tell you, I'm more then just pretty." She walked off with the slight bit of snot in her step. But there was a slight bit of glee in her stride that both Alex and Joey hadn't noticed before . . .she liked them back. Joey smiled at Alex and they high-fived.this was a good middle of a bad day of school.

-*

They went on walking to 3rd period, "The third class already!" Joey smacked his head on his newly purchased black binder, "Why? Why? Why?!" Alex smiled in his heart, 'Ah, good old Joey.he always finds a way of making the first day a hoot.if only I could tell him what my assignment was about.' Joey somehow, by bashing his head against his binder, had noticed something was not quite right with him.

"Somethin' up Alex? You.aren't talking.for once." the adolescent shock his head.'nothing that I'd even think of telling him.' They soon came across the rest of their class up at the History room.

The third period classes seemed to be split up into three sections: the pretty boys, the geeks, and of coarse, the troublemakers/ class clowns. Like wise, Alex and Joey were classified like the others: in the troublemakers/ class clowns area. So they joined their other fellow firebrands and had a chat outside the classroom. But the chatter subsided suddenly: Virginia Howard came up to the group; she winked at Joey and Alex.so as you might guess, they ran straight over there.

"Hello!" her bright smile lit the whole hallway, "um.you guys are the only people that I know.can you tell me who they are?" the motioned her head towards the pretty boys and their faithful leader, Ricky White. Ricky and his band of followers were talking, mostly about fashion and how they hope to be motels and all the things that boys really didn't get into till.maybe forever.

"Oh, that's just Ricky. You sit next to him in homeroom. He's really all pretty boyish and really gets on all of our nerves."

"Yeah.he's been calling me 'sugar mama' all day." she glared at him as angrily as she could get, "idiot." Ricky, however, noticed that she was staring at him so he left his group of followers and walked over to Virginia.

"Hello sugar mama!" He pushed her into the locker section.

"Lay off Ricky. I'm." her pleasant eyes met Joey's, "talking to some friends right now. Please go away." Joey noticed that the nasty look in Ricky's eyes said he wasn't giving up without a fight.

"Not gonna happen today, little lady. You're only ignoring me.and I don't like people who ignore me."

"Like I care." he looked as though he was going to abuse her.

"HEY! Why don't you pick on someone your own size!" Joey stood in front her before Ricky could even raise a fist, "This is her first day here, you big oaf! So lay off!"

Ricky shock him head, and doubled Joey over. Everyone who was watching cringed, including Alex.

".so what was that you said, baby?" he grabbed Joey by the hair.

"u.uh."

"JOEY! Are you ok?" Virginia rushed by his side.

"I've felt better." but it seemed even though it was a tough situation, Virginia seemed to find something to smile about. She beamed again, and then did something no one expected.the kissed him on the cheek.

"I can't believe you'd to that to a friend.Ricky. That really is no way to impress a girl, especially one like me." She raised her little purple dress shoe.everyone saw what was coming next.

SMACK! The shoe slammed right in Ricky's shin. "Mommy." his voice suddenly went soprano and he toppled over.the other guys in the pretty guy group walked off whistling.as for Virginia, she had a huge smirk across her face.

"You see, I'm tougher then I look." and went into 3RD period cheerful and perky, as though it had never happened. Joey rose to his feet, happy like she was.

"Man, I like her more now then I did 5 minutes ago!" Alex, however, just rolled his eyes and entered the classroom without saying a word.because the assignment from Mrs. Claystood was still on his mind.

-*

Things at school had gotten a hint better then homeroom. But then again, to Alex everything was better then homeroom. Throughout lunch and into 6TH period, Alex's mouth had been glued shut, which was unusual in itself. Most teachers thought that he had turned over a new leaf over the summer, but other teenagers knew better; this was Alex Fowler they were talking about. His middle name was "talk." Other adolescents kept away from the topic. Finally as the day came to a close Joey was talked quietly to another boy in the class, Tyler Hermon .

"Dude, he's been acting like this since homeroom."

"It can't be detention.he never gets upset over detentions." Tyler stared at Alex, because for the first time in his 14 years in existence, he was doing his homework in 8TH period, "Something is up.that's for sure."

With all of his courage, Joey went over to talk to his best friend.

"Yo! You've been like this whole.weird stage ever since homeroom. Please don't tell me that school's pressure has gotten to yah already!" Alex glared at him evilly.

"Go away Joey."

"Come on.you never act like this! What's up?"

Alex's cheeks flushed a sudden crimson, "I don't want to talk about it."

"Why?"

"I said I don't want to talk about it."

"Then.why don't you tell me.you've told me about everything else why not this." Joey leaned against Alex's ancient desk. Out of all the years he has known him, Alex never kept secrets from him. Even in 2ND grade, when he had accidentally peed his pants in the middle of story time he confessed to it.eventually. In 4TH grade, he came to school without his pants on.only boxers. He ate the whole classroom candy jar, (of coarse the candy. Not the jar.) He told all of his secret crushes to him.Joey could go on and on.

Alex noticed the look in Joey's eyes that told him his concern. Alex sighed and gently set down his pencil on his math homework, "if you really want to know, cheek with me after school. I'll tell you then."

Joey stood dumbfounded for just a little moment but nodded: he knew that this was something down right personal. And Alex never spoke personal stuff.

-*

"SO what you're saying it that the fat teacher gave you a report, you started hearing voices.and so you have to do a report on our legend of Darkfire! That's whacked man! Whacked!"

"I know Joey." it was after school, skateboarding time in other words. After a long hall of homework that the boys had to take care of, Alex finally coughed up what had happened with Mrs. Claystood. Joey was about as weirded out by it as Alex was about the whole idea but like he thought before.but what did this all mean? The last few nights, Virgo hadn't been in the sky but she's already hard to see to begin with, "I mean."

A sudden scream filled the air.

The boys jumped right out off their skateboards.

"HELP ME! HHEEELP!" The shriek was from a corner of a dark alley in the city. Alex shoved his skateboard over to the side and began to run in the direction of where it was coming from.

"ALEX!" Joey looked franticly left and right, "WAIT FOR ME!"

-*

Though the dark alley the made it to the cul-de-sac, the scream was getting closer and closer. Running like the wind, Alex and Joey made it to the soul of the screamer: Virginia Howard, the new girl from school. The tormenter, a man in a coal black cape, was holding out some sort of yellow ball of light in her direction.

"NO! Get it off of me you.ape!" Her voice suddenly froze. She had noticed that Joey and Alex were across her, "Alex! Joey! I.you.need to get out of here!"

"Can't you just hit him with the whole 'one-two-three'?" Virginia's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Don't you think that's I've tried that already!" she went on struggling.the boy

The man's other hand had yanked hers onto the sphere. Her sapphire eyes lit up with a sunburn color red, the knees of the poor girl sank slowly to the ground. The two boys stood thunderstruck for a few short moments.

".now all I need is to take the magic deep inside her soul then." Alex decided to intrude. Watching the poor girl fall was one thing, but standing and doing nothing about it was another.

"What makes you think that you'll get away with this?" His hand clinched into a fist, "we'll fight you for her!"

Joey stopped moving for a few seconds, breathless at the thought of battling the guy in the dark cape, "What's this we stuff Alex?"

"We're going to fight the guy together. You come off as such a hero sometimes, Joe, but then you act like a total coward. And besides, you like her!"

Joey's ears suddenly blushed red, "I do not! I like her as a human being!"

"That's not what you told me this morning.quote on quote 'did you cheek out that new girl.she's a hot one. But then again, I'm gonna have some major competition for that one.' on quote."

"HEY!.That's.a.LIE! I DO NOT!"

"DO TOO!"

"DO NOT!"

"DO TOO!"

Though the expression of the mysterious figure weren't shown, his tone sounded very irritated at the boys, "Now if you boys are finished with your childish games, I'm going to finish this." The golden ball now lit up with such a fire that it illuminated the cul-de-sack. The boy's bodies shock with the brightness of the light.a millennia seemed to pass.the light finally died. Alex fell unconscious by Joey's side.

"ALEX!" his comrade shock him roughly, "Wake up man!"

The man in the cloak turned facing the terrified wreck that was Virginia. Her body slowly rose to its full height, "You want me.but leave the two out of this." she motioned towards Joey and Alex's body.

"But this fight is just beginning.Virgo!" her eyes widened in both confusion and astonishment the mention of the name. The figure raised his arms up to the heavens; the sky was suddenly filled with thunderheads as dark as night itself. Lighting clashed in many places around them, nearly hitting both Joey and Alex. But the man, for some odd reason, didn't seem satisfied with just a thunderstorm. He raised his arms even higher.forming a huge-

"TORNADO!" Joey franticly lifted Alex upon his back. The raced out of the alley and down the deserted street; He glanced for a second behind him. It seemed that the tornado gulped up both the masked man and Virginia. Joey's panting was getting louder but something seemed peculiar about the wind. Then it hit him in the face: the tornado was chasing them! A long block of metal clunked on the back of Joey's neck. It felt like a long time for his body to fall onto the concrete. Until it finally did, starting what would change both Joey and Alex's life.forever.

-*

Darkness seemed to have swallowed them whole. "Alex.yo, man wake up!"

He rose his eyelids.a franticly moving brown and blond body was shaking him persistently. Alex felt a smile cross his face.Joey.

His eyes soon focused and he saw just why Joey was so frantic: they were surrounded by white rock and black sky. And all the way at the across the horizon was a little blue and white ball: home.

"We got swept up by some strange tornado that plummeted us here.but I don't get it, it was a stupid tornado.that the stupid guy made." Joey went on explaining what had happened after he fell unconscious. "And." Joey toke a deep breath of air, "AH! I CAN BREATH!" but Alex wasn't paying the least bit attention to it any word that came out of Joey's big mouth; he was just staring.staring off into the distance.

"Yo! Alex! Earth.or I mean Moon to Alex! Are you in there?" but yet again, there was no answer. Alex was staring off into the distance, like he was in a mind trance. He seemed to be staring at not the Earth, but something else: a tiny white ball horridly towards them. But as it got closer, it wasn't much of a ball but a little white pony with wings galloping with the speed of a thousand light-years.

Joey went suddenly as pale as the moon itself, "Pegasus." the white horse reared; its hooves of steal clapped right onto the Moon's fragile surface. Much to the boys surprise, the winged horse began to talk.

"Greetings, Alex Fowler and Joey Staff. I am Pegasus, the winged horse." Its eyes of blue sapphire glinted against light of the stars, "I see that the tornado caused by the Great Evil has beaten you a bit up."

"The Great Evil?" Alex's eyes widened.

"Yes," Pegasus stared at the ground, looking like it was in distress, "the Great Evil. I know that you both know this, but long ago the Great Evil almost destroyed us all using Virgo. We finally did stop him, but he sworn to us that it would happen in the near future. But legend has it, that a great hero would come to rise and save the Earth and the Stars. Now that our very own Virgo has been kidnapped, we have been searching for the great hero.and I think we have found him."

"Ok."

"The Great Hero is you.Alex Fowler.it is up to you to save Virgo and as for your other companion." his eyes met Joey, "every good hero needs a sidekick, he'll be yours."

"That's where we come in." A voice came from behind them. Alex turned around to be faced with his personal birth sign of the Zodiac, Sagittarius. A few other constellations appeared around him, Orion the Hunter, Taurus the Bull, and Scorpio the scorpion, "We have the materials you need." He handed Alex, "Take my bow."

"And my horns." Taurus slipped off his majestic horns and handed them to Joey.

"And my club." Orion set down his giant club at the boys' feet.

Pegasus seemed pleased at what the constellations were offering to the boys, "But.without these items, our constellations won't be complete.as for me." The horse bowed in reveres, "I will give you my wings."

With the help of the other constellations, the boys lugged the heavy fighting armor onto Pegasus's snowy back.

"LET'S GO!" The dead wind on the Moon slowly picked up and soon Pegasus rode out of sight. Alex glanced over his shoulder as the little blue ball went out of sight. Rivers of tears couldn't help but flow down his cheeks. "Goodbye . . .home."

-*

The dust particles began to build up as they headed deeper and deeper into the Milky Way Galaxy. Alex was fast asleep. The fatigue of the day really ate at him. As for Joey, he was his opposite. The last thing he thought about was sleep.

"Hey Pegasus!"

"Yes child."

" um.please don't call me child. I've gotta kind of stupid question: How come we can breath in here? I'm not a scientific expert but um.there's no oxygen here so um.wouldn't we like." Joey paused, "die?"

Pegasus snorted a whinny, "You're still stuck on what human ideas, hm? You're both the heroes of legend.you can't die of mortal ways. Neither you nor Alex can in fact.you wonder how Orion survived all these long years without any oxygen?"

" But.he's already dead!"

"Of coarse but he is also a mythical creature.what I'm trying to say, Joey, is that you aren't mortal!" Joey was hoping to come up with a comeback but failed. His puffed up angry face glared directly at the black sky beneath them. The air was filled with an eerie silence; even the meteors, swooshing as they passed, were silent. They carried onward.

-*

"Everything had happened so quickly.the man.the tornado." the boy's pencil suddenly stopped, "I may not be able to tell this from my POV but maybe by hers you'll see what kind of pain and torment Virginia went though."

"Wake up!" something was poking me.I mumbled a few cruse words and raised upward. My eyelids, which felt as though he poured cement on them, slowly began to rise up.

The man I had encountered back at home was in front of me.

I felt as though I wanted to strangle him.and though to kill him for what he has done but I couldn't. My arms were chained to the wall and as were legs: I was trapped.

"I was hoping that you'd arise, my Virgo. But I must have patience.you possess power that I may use on my conquest.now.hand over you're magical force and I wouldn't have to harm you."

The only word that I had to use at a time like this was: I was pissed. There! I said it.I.what does he mean? The man called me Virgo.ok, so that's my birth sign but how did that monster know? I studied him for a little while, and then shock my head.

"Fine.I didn't think it would come to this but." he lifted up one of his ghostly hands. My heart suddenly began to scream in pain. My body oozed with perspiration.my head was screaming, "MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP!" Until finally, a fainted.my last thought was of him, smiling, laughing before me; like this is some kind of enjoyment. I can't.I wouldn't.I may not know what the man is after but I will not let him get to me.I must stay strong.not matter what.

-*

Alex finally woke up a while later. His head nuzzled up against Pegasus's soft skin. But it had seemed that he was still sleepy, from what Alex had no idea.

Finally, a fuzzy nose rubs against his neck, "wake up Alexander. We have a big day ahead of ourselves." Alex blinked; I hoped that this was all just a dream. But I guess, yet again, I'm wrong. Pegasus.a flying horse.how is this all possible.Virginia.I do hope she's ok. This had been a first.hoping that a girl was fine was about as common as wearing pink to school for Alex.

But girls soon ran clear out of his mind, for a new enemy approached.

Pegasus whinnied in the alert that a new threat had appeared. The figures, dressed in lighting colored coats, landed.

"Pegasus.Ra would like to meet you," the figures spoke in one voice. Pegasus's rear hair calmed, and he nodded, "and do bring along the prophecies as well." Pegasus glanced a miserable look at Alex and Joey; giving them the impression that is was best to do what they had said.

"Prophecies.I like this new nickname." Joey laughed with sarcasm. So, as Pegasus had implied, they followed they soldiers into the city of FireAngelus.
