Love in the Limelight
.
Enter stage right,
a couple, newly formed,
still learning the lines
atorturous past
has written for them.
Movements, torrid
then timid
ripple like waves
splashing a moon-lit shore.
They exit stage left
to rehearse some more.
.
Love in the limelight
always shines brightest
on a darkened stage.
.
Enter stage left,
a couple, together an eternity,
they've performed this play
a thousand times.
Directions anticipated,
scenes saved
with a lifetime of knowledge.
The audience would never guess.
They exit stage right,
finished and in search of something new.
.
Love in the limelight
always shines brightest
on a darkened stage.
.
Enter stage right,
a life, always in control.
Enter stage left,
a life, lived on the edge.
As they approach
the improv starts,
roles reverse.
The one in control
takes the risks.
The other becomes
the voice of reason.
They exit, together, stage left,
knowing their little skit
was the start
of something real.
.
Love in the limelight
always shines brightest
on a darkened stage.
