Sugar Shock
Chapter 2: Chocolate Dreams & Bubble gum Smiles

Ah, I was all nice and toasty. Ben's lovely face was just inches from mine. "Here Lexie, I thought you deserved something for putting up with me last night." I felt my heart practically melt. "Aww that's ok Ben. You know you can come to me whenever." "I know. You're so sweet. I realized that last night." I just smiled at him and he put one hand over my eyes. "Now close your eyes and stick out your hand, I have something for you." ~'Wow! I can't believe this'~ "Ok now open" I looked down in my hand and saw a Hershey Kiss. "Ah thanks!" I said smiling. He brought his face closer and said, "That's just for last night. This is for the past few months," and his lips came right next to mine and......Buuuuzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh! Stupid, evil alarm clock!! I threw one of my stuffed bears at it and turned back over. After five minutes of just staring at the ceiling with a permanent bubble gum smile stuck on my face, I crawled out of bed and started to get ready. This morning was my first radio shift as WMZUL's Jazz DJ. I was a little nervous, but pretty happy. I had to run around the room after Marie left so that I could check and make sure I had everything before I left. Most of the mornings I would be lucky if even caught the elevator 15 minutes before my class was supposed to start. I checked my instant messages and saw that Ben had wished me luck.

Thinking of the wonderful, but rudely interrupted dream, I headed out onto Madison University's large campus. When I got to the radio station, I saw one of the production managers swinging a tennis racket around, chasing one of the station trainers. ~'How anybody could be that hyper at 9 in the morning is beyond me'~ I walked into the main studio and saw TJ Pring making a last minute promotion. ~'Now this is a good sign'~

TJ had shown me how to use all the controls and buttons my first day of training. The whole entire time I was just standing there, wanting to push as many as possible. Oh and drooled a lil on my shoes. Too bad he has a girlfriend. ~'Ugh, why are all the guys around me in a relationship? I must have overslept the day they just handed out boyfriends to whomever was desperate/lucky enough to stand in line. But I guess it could be worse. Instead of having to gag over Ben and Jen, it could be Ben and Jerry.'~ I tried to stifle a snicker and walked over to TJ.

"Hey Lexa. Ready for your first day?" I smiled and managed a nod. "As ready as I'll be" He laughed and said, "You'll do fine. Soon you'll be so used to it that you can do it in your sleep" I laughed and replied "Well since its so early and Jazz is kind of dead, it shouldn't be too hard to fall asleep in here." He just laughed and wished me luck while I continued on to my studio.

Mick and Nico were rapping up their morning show. Nico looked at me and exclaimed "God Bless You!" I chuckled and replied back "Long morning?" She just nodded and started yawning. I grabbed a couple of CDs and signed in. Mick signed off and they left, leaving me staring at the microphone in absolute terror. I did ok until I played a song talking about whiskey in the morning and followed it up with an anti-alcohol promotion. I hung my head in shame while Tyler came in, getting ready for his shift.

"Have you noticed that all any of those songs talk about is whiskey, rum, or vodka?" I asked while trying to get rid of the offending CD. He just laughed and nodded. I continued on with my rant while I was switching songs. "It's just that we sound like total hypocrites. One minute we're playing songs that basically say 'Hey go get drunk, it will solve all your problems,' and the next minute, we're blasting promos about how evil it is to drink." "Yeah that is kind of bad. Try having to do a show called The Pre-Drink," came a voice behind me.

I spun around in my chair and saw TJ. ~'Aw CRAP! Not supposed to complain about station to people in charge on the first day!!'~
