Saturday, October 18th
I slowly blinked my eyes open as the morning sun blared into them. I could hear the birds happily chirping away, but I cursed them for waking me up.
I turned to my other side and melted at the sight. There was Zack, sleeping peacefully. His dirty blonde hair was sticking out at odd angles, and I smiled as I remembered running my fingers through it as I got my birthday present.
His dark brown eyes opened, "Nathan, do you always stare at me when you wake up?"
"Yes."
Zack scooted over beside me and started playing with my lip ring, which had been my first birthday present.
"Nathan, I think we should break up."
I sat bolt upright, "What? Why?"
"Well, because I'm not sure weather I'm completely into guys yet. I'm not even sure if I'm bi."
"But Zack-"
"At your little party last night, there was a girl. I found that I have feelings for her."
I was beginning to tear up, so I got out of the bed and started getting dressed.
"Nathan?"
"What?" I said, not hiding the fact that I was upset.
He got up, too and starting getting his clothes on. He walked over to me and kissed my forehead.
"It's not you, Nathan. Whatever you want to think, it's not because of you." he said hugging me.
"Zack." I said, my voice finally breaking.
"I don't want to leave you. I just need some space and some time to figure out what side of the fence I'm on. If it's your side, I'll come back, but if it's not, then I hope we can still be friends."
"But Zack," I said, clinging to his waist, "Where am I going to go? Nia moved and I my parents are in a different state."
Zack was also hugging me tight.
"You can use one of the guestrooms. The farthest one from me is in the basement."
"Okay." I said, releasing him. I gathered most of my things and headed down there, not looking back.
So now here I am, living in my ex boyfriend's basement. Happy birthday to me.
