Resisting Gray

Shades of gray: neither ebony nor white
Monotony defines this existence
Hues of melancholy should become light
Futile through the efforts, make a resistance

Change is fruitless, colors blurred and erased
Grip the precipice, oppose the long plunge
Beads of this endeavor, stream down my face
Assist me in this unattainable lunge

Through it may be irrational and in vain
Protect me from the swirling compliance
And support my fragile soul through the pain
Just be my consistency and reliance

Be a brace of steel and iron along the way
Help me in this goal of resisting gray
