Beyond the Green Light
By Ron Smith

A broken harp
And feathers fall,
They call for me.
Take my hand!

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

The filter shimmers,
A green light glows,
A lantern bellows,
And the water simmers.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Drown the sound,
Kill the sight,
Brake the bones,
Stab the man.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Mingling red,
Satin's white.
Velvet stains.
Broken life.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Laugh.
Cajole.
The mirth
She stole.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

The light shines down
Mingling with heavenly sounds;
Her laughter sways
Her lips persuade.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Red and green,
Red and blue,
Blue and green,
Killing June.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

The Cat escaped,
Left my broken veins,
Shopping home,
And words cease to flow.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Beyond the distant lands,
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Gaze upon the velvety night
Immersed by grains of sand.

Immersed by grains of sand,
Gaze upon the velvety night.
Beyond the shimmering lights,
Beyond the distant lands.
