Chapter 1

"Leigh, I swear nothing's going on!" Hallie Andrews said.

"Hallie, you haven't called in over two weeks and I'm worried about you. So's Aiden and mom."

Hallie paced back and forth in her dorm room. "Leigh, I've been busy with school and my sorority. You know how it goes."

Leigh sighed. "Hold on, Aiden wants to talk to you."

Hallie heard some movement in the background, then Aiden came on the phone. "Hallie?" His deep voice filled her ears.

"Yes, Aiden?" She said sweetly.

"You have your sister worried sick. What are you doing?"

"School work, work, life. Geez, chill out."

"Hallie, I think you need to come up here and visit us. You need to come home."

"Why? Besides, I don't have any time for another month."

"No, you just don't want to face your mother." Hallie frowned and plopped down on her bed. "Well?" He prompted.

"Aiden, can we not talk about this? I have things I need to do."

"Hallie, please. Just come home for a visit?"

"No. I have midterms."

"God, you're just like your sister."

Hallie heard a slap in the background. Then Aiden laughed, then she heard Leigh shriek. She shook her head. "Hello? What are you two doing?"

"Sorry, Hallie. I want you home in three weeks. If you aren't here in three weeks, we're coming to get you."

"Aiden Jacobson! I am nineteen years old! You can't make me do anything. I'll be home for winter break. That's in a month."

"Ok, works for me. Make sure you call twice a week. At least, got it?" Aiden said.

"God, fine. I'll call you guys ok?"

"Great. Love ya, kid. Here's Leigh." Hallie could hear the smile in his voice.

"Hallie?"

"Yeah, I'm here, Leigh."

The two continued to talk for another ten minutes before Hallie hung up to go to class. She changed out of her baggy shirt and slipped on a tight white shirt. She pulled on her brown boots and headed towards her class.

Hallie greeted people as she went, smiling and laughing. She watched as Jason, her boyfriend of six months, walk towards her. He was a little taller than Hallie. She stood 5'5" where he stood 5'9." He smirked and wrapped her in his arms. "Hey baby."

"Hey, Jas. How are you?"

His green eyes sparkled. "I'm great. You look stressed. Are you ok?"

Jason had an incredible ability to read her, even when she felt she had covered up her feelings. "Just talked to my sister this morning. She wants me to come home."

"Ah...well, you can't leave me. You aren't allowed." He smiled and leaned down to kiss her.

She kissed him back and tangled her small hands into his messy blonde hair. "You're the best, Jason. I love you."

"I love you, too. Now come in, let's go to class."
