The Day Queen
Like a phoenix in her flames,
The soars into the sky.
A bird that's never tamed,
She unfurls her wings to fly.
Awed by her stately presence,
The clouds mirror her brilliant hue.
A buoyant sea of effervescence,
Rose and saffron streaking thorough.
Courtiers to their wakened queen,
Flowers bow their dainty heads.
She offers this reverent bed of green,
Vibrant light as the fodder they are fed.
The world was locked, but she's the key,
Chasing shadows far away.
She dances to the wind's melody,
As she turns the night into the day.
Encouraging her on her revelry,
Each life touched sends a thankful song.
Their voices merging into a wordless rhapsody,
As before her the world's tapestry looms long.
And at the eve of the day,
The song is sung and price yet paid.
She lands again and down she lay,
The rose-gold of warmth is soon to fade.
Gold is replaced by silver and ash,
But the phoenix's egg is soon to hatch.
Like a phoenix in her flames,
The soars into the sky.
A bird that's never tamed,
She unfurls her wings to fly.
