My Flame- by Ashley Brown
Drawn to you-
A moth to the flame.
Stupid me-
I know I'll be burned.
But in that time,
In your arms.
I feel safe
And free
And loved.
But the pain that follows?
More real than any of those.
The flame kills the moth,
Like you're killing me-
When I see her in your arms
Does she feel the same?
But like all moths do,
I'll keep coming back to you,
Until I catch fire,
Come falling to my death.
Because the pain is so real
I blink back some tears.
Need something to dull it.
I don't know how
Just one solution.
Give up my flame,
And find myself lost in the dark.
So until I find a steady beam,
I'll return to my flickering ray
Until the day you choose her over me...
