My Friend

She tries to hide,

Trusting no-one but herself.

Her lies are translucent,

Her smiles paper thin.

She's so naive,

She believes she's alright.

Her friends are worried,

She shrugs it aside.

'Nothing's wrong,' she says,

Her ignorance must be bliss.

We're scared for her,

We don't know what to do.

She's kicking us out,

And locking the door.

Turns from our help,

Tunes out our pleas.

Hope is fading,

I leave it in the hands of God.

There's nothing we can do,

But sit back and pray.

Pray that she comes to her senses,

That she realizes the truth.

That she'll get the help she needs,

And learn to trust her friends.
