Chapter 2- where am I?

In my bed I gave a short scream, started choking and panting, tears of pain rolling down my cheeks. My mum rushed over to my bedside, just as I stopped breathing…

It was a dusty, barren place. It was dark and gloomy. I looked around and didn't like what I saw of this place. It scared me more than the hyenas. I decided not to stay there and padded onwards. After pacing for what seemed like hours I came upon a wood. 'What trees would grow in such a desolate place?' I wondered. The trees cast ghostly shadows upon the bare ground, branches creaked and in the wind the leaves rustled. 'What?' I thought suddenly, 'There is no wind'. Although the woods were creepy, there was nowhere else to go, but back and I didn't want to go back. Later it seemed like maybe I should have taken the option of going back, but for now I plodded on through the foliage…

"Imogen, wake up, please, you have to breath," she started to cry and yelled "Call for an ambulance, QUICK" before hugging me close. My sister, who had done a course in First Aid, began to administer resuscitation.

I brushed past the cobwebs and knocked branches out of my way with my paw. "Ow" I roared in agony, as a thorn entered my paw.  I began rolling over and over and then… 'Plop' I entered a lake of murky, disgusting and freezing water. The water made the thorn come out and brought me to my senses. Quickly I began to clamber out, however, the water seemed to be pulling me down, and the more I tried to get out the more I sank. I growled in frustration and pulled myself out using a log that had fallen in the water. I ten lay down, panting heavily.  'Where am I?' I contemplate 'Where am I?'

The ambulance siren was loud and alerted my family to the fact that help was here. Quickly the medical people rushed into my house and loaded me up onto a stretcher, one of them going "Imogen, can you hear me?" I didn't respond. As the ambulance drove away my family got into the car and set of after it.
