Chapter 5: The Necklace
In the car Keller started talking and asked if anything was wrong. Kera leaned back in the chair a little but Keller didn't notice. She just said, 'No, nothing that I can think of.' Keller knew she was lying but let it slide. It was the last week of summer before they had to start school again and Keller was going to lose a bet he made with a friend the year before. He said that he would be going out with Kera by the time they started school. Keller parked at a Wendy's and they walked in, got their food, and left. When they got back in the car Keller looked over at Kera and took her hands into his. She looked up into his hazel eyes and he looked back into her ice blue eyes. He said, 'Kera, we've been friends for a little over five years now and my feelings for you have grown. Will you be my girlfriend?' Kera looked stunned. She knew she liked Keller but not that much yet she couldn't resist or refuse. She just said yes. It was late when they finally arrived back home. After telling Kera's parents they were finally going out as a couple, Kera told everyone she was going to bed. When she went to her room she locked the door and looked out the window that was facing the river in the back of their house. She saw Raze there to her delight. She hopped out of the first story window and went to meet him. The first thing he did was put on the necklace. She loved it the second she laid her eyes on it. Raze told her to wear it seven days straight, day and night. Kera asked why. He told her, 'If you take it off for any reason you will most likely not be able to be the god of Solveign.' Kera just kept on staring into the emerald gem on the silver chain. The next day Kera was up early again and met Raze on the bridge, her red hair flowing behind her in the breeze and around her neck hung the beautiful necklace. "Did you take the necklace off?" Raze asked teasingly. Kera innocently said, "who me? Of course not! Why would I do anything like that?" Raze and Kera laughed. "But seriously no I didn't. My mother asked where I got it and I just told her I bought it at the mall a while ago, so she doesn't suspect anything." "What about Keller, your boyfriend." The last part was in a teasing voice. Kera just rolled her eyes and told him she didn't think he suspected anything, but Keller was watching Kera and Raze from Kera's window right at that moment. Kera went inside a couple of minutes later and started cooking breakfast. Keller came down and helped her. Keller didn't bother talking about what he saw. He wondered who was next to her. He just saw a guy with brown hair and brown eyes with black pants and black velvet robes. On his gray tank there was a dark green snake starting at the left shoulder and going down to his side. He had only seen him once and that was in a dream he had when he was thirteen, a month before he met Kera. He was now eighteen and never thought about that dream. Now it all came back to him.
