I Am a Rose

I am a Rose.

You reverently placed me upon my throne

And dubbed me the sovereign of rose-scented water,

All because I was your most precious Rose.

I am a Rose.

And am showered with unfailing care.

My silken petals caressed,

Simply for being your Rose.

I am a Rose.

And I blossom and open for you.

I stand up straight in your presence,

For I am proud to be your Rose.

I am a Rose.

And you let me lie in decayed water.

My petals have crumbled,

Yet I am still a Rose.
