Can you imagine a life,
A god given gift.
Without the ability to control your limbs,
Or the ability to walk?
Can you imagine a life,
Filled with metal frames,
Straps and plastic holding you in place.
Designed to aid you,
Yet caging you restricting you?
Can you imagine a life,
Ruled by others decision's,
Where your thoughts are ignored.
Where passers in the street stop and stare,
Where people can't see past the metal surrounding you.
Can you imagine a life,
Spent being treat like your slow or your stupid.
Where even those who mean well
Buy you gifts meant for others much younger.
Gifts labelled age 5+ and under.
Can you imagine it?
I'm betting you can't.
But these are just a few of the things
Faced by my other half,
My twin sister each day
Misunderstood, so Misunderstood.
Cerebral Palsy has done this
Can you imagine it?
I'm betting you can't.
So next time you see a girl in a wheelchair
Remember this well my friends,
She is so much more then a girl in a chair.
