Up in Smoke
When all is well and all is forgotten,
Your memory strikes me from behind.
I, despairingly try to embrace thy fleeting vision,
Yet it vanishes in a plume of smoke, in the blink of an eye.
The smoke causes my eyes to water
And I am drowning in my tears.
My lungs fill up with smoke
And I am choking on my fears.
As I fade into darkness,
My mind lingers on the fume's familiar smell.
I am choked in the smoke that surrounds me,
But it only happens when all is well.
