Solitude

Through abandoned city streets I stumbled
In the pursuit of forlorn orphaned cries,
As the monoliths around me crumbled
Crushed by the burden of collapsing skies.
Beneath the ruins the lonely child mourned
The swift passing of my generation,
Through the forsaken paths of glass adorned
Searching the heavens in desperation,
For brothers and sisters who went astray
And left their tragic silhouettes behind,
To linger in the waning glow of day,
And languish in the brambles of my mind.
Oh, solitude I've wrought my cage of you,
Could I leave to begin my life anew?
