Of the Beginning...
... As told in song by the minstrels of the king
..::..
Before the count of days
In the darkness of the night
There rose seven great fires
Burning with cold light
And amid the seven fires
There lived a spider great
Who thought to build a world
And weave the web of fate
That spider's name was Cuvulien
And she was mighty, but gentle too
Cuvulien was wise
And many things she knew
Cuvulien wove a net of flame
From the seven fires that burned
And placed the world in the net
And so the world turned
And then she made the birds and beasts
And from her saliva she made the seas
Then she built the mountains
Last she made the trees
And for three ages by reckoning of men
The animals lived alone
The spiders where the kings
Upon their spider web throne
But when three ages of men were past
Cuvulien thought to create the race of man
And those could think and reason
So the age of humans began
So Cuvulien made the Nanúra
The seven queens and seven kings
And they had many gifts
And they were named for these things
Their greatest gift was that of speech
And in their language they each were named
For song and strength, sight and wit
One great ability each of them claimed
First of the kings was Evarn the strong
And he could lift ten times his weight
His queen was Nanía, the intuitive one
And she could from one's eyes thus read their fate
Second of kings was Cauth the trickster
He was ever playing tricks on his peers
His queen was Elenína the singer
And her voice would not age with the years
Tímal was third of the kings
For he wrote many stories and tales
Arnóen was Tímal's good queen
And it is said that her kindness never fails
Tasuwen was fourth of the kings
And he was a smith, a carver of stones
His queen was Ecselienla of animals
She walked among them and sat on their thrones
Fifth of kings was Etelim of the sea
And he swan even as a whale
His queen was Cúdenna the fair
For her beauty could be hidden by no veil
Helím was sixth of the kings
And he was a hunter of beasts
Narethla was his queen of dreams
And she slept and dreamt and woke for no feasts
Caríeníl was last of the kings
And he had great ears and great sight
His queen was Nacúvula the weaver
For she wove things that shone with gold light
And the Nanúra made their homes
And had many children who were good
And the people lived in peace
And learned many things as they could
