My Valentine
First it started
Innocent and sweet.
One little card
With a chocolate treat.
Next it came
With a surprising twist.
This time roses
And a gentle kiss.
Then it appeared
Wrapped in red.
Sheets of silk,
Roses on the bed.
Soon it entered
With four little words.
There's now singing
Like little blue-birds.
Later it arrived
In a white silk gown.
Lilies in the hair
And family all around.
Finally it's here
As a memory,
Of times when
It was just you and me.

Author's Note: Happy Valentine's Day! Well, in case you don't know (and because I feel like explaining it), the first stanza meant when we were all passing around little Valentine's Day cards to our classmates. Next is in the teenage years. The third stanza is in the young adult years. The fourth stanza is the wedding engagement. The fifth stanza is the wedding day (also on Valentine's Day). And the final stanza is when they have kids. Hehe...it just sorta happened... Hope you like it!
