Begin with a canvas
Handwoven of the purest materials
Blades of grass with dew
Watch it sparkle soft colors
Paint the dawn with flower petals
But only use my favorites
Pansies and crocuses
Show me the new sun
Use the trumpet shape of a daffodil
Calling the day's arrival with a fanfare
Create a tree of my favorite things
Only those that are beautiful.
On the tree, attach a swing
Still swaying in the breeze
Waiting for me to come out again.
Finally, paint Mommy's eyes
Faded in the dawn
To show she's watching over me forever
Wherever she may be
Just like you told me once upon a time.

Paint me a picture, Daddy.
Paint me the morning.
