Half Full, Half Empty
by Deirdre Blair
Every stormy-grey cloud
Has a silver lining,
And the grass is always greener
On the other side of the fence.
Remember that it takes
More muscles to frown than smile,
And a picture is worth
A thousand words.
But is it better
To have loved and lost
Than never to have
Loved at all?
If you never knew
That a certain thing existed,
Then how could you
EVer miss it?
Wouldn't blissful ignorance
Be easier to live with
Than the painful
Pang of loss?
Does time really
Heal all the wounds
Of a loss greater
Than one could ever know?
Or are the glass and water
Characters of an illusion
That would have us believe
There's an optimisstic view on life?
But if I had to do or die,
I'd rather die a thousand times
Than take the first plunge
Without you by my side.
