There is now a simple solution to cure the dilemma of writer's block. When you get stuck at a point in your writing, you must back up two to three paragraphs and reread from there to the end. By the time you have come to the end again, an idea should come as part of the natural progression of the story. This is so ironclad that even if you have no more than a title or file name for a document, rereading that will create some ideas.
I have total confidence this will work, and I strongly urge anyone that has had success with this to let me know.
