A/N » I'm so so sorry for not updating twice a month. I'm been simply too busy to keep up with my updating schedules. I'm involved in the National Day Parade of my country [that falls on the 9 Aug] and we attend the rehearsals every Saturday from morning to night. Then my homework and tests have been piling on like Mt Everest, on top of the fact that my computer of only 5 years has been struck by some unknown weird virus that sometimes lets me use the com and sometimes doesn't. But I'm getting deeper into the plot of Tenshi and will certainly try to complete at least 3 – 5 volumes [meaning 15 – 25 chapters] by the end of this year. Next year would be more stress, so good luck to me!

Volume 2: chapter 7 [Revelations, meetings, Kyou]

Seated around the turquoise plastic table were various members of the junior PtB. Although some of them seemed more interested in counting the number of swirls on the table then be introduced to new people. Mitsuki glanced nervously at the clock behind them while frantically wiping the perspiration on her palms. Secretly, she was hoping the walk towards the table would take days, the group in front of her [spare for a few familiar faces] looked honestly intimidating.

"Hey guys, sorry for the delay," Said a flustered Tora who bounced energetically to her group of friends, leaving behind a worried Mitsuki, "And this is –"

Finally when Mitsuki was about to reach the group, she tripped over her own feet and fell onto the floor.

            "Mitsuki Kanji…"

Doom… I'm doomed… First meeting with a new bunch of friends and I had to trip over my own feet. Of all things, MY FEET? Of all places, THE CANTEEN? Of all people, ME? I am so clumsy beyond hope; can somebody dig a hole and bury me in now? Ruined… I'm ruined… thought Mitsuki as she lay face first on the floor. Thoughts of being a social reject flew through her head and random images of being ostracized haunted her already throbbing head.

            "Erm… Mitsuki?"

Mitsuki snapped out of her pathetic thoughts and struggled to look up.

            "Are you alright?"

With a huge bump on her head and horribly aching knees, she nodded. "I'm feeling very cold…" She muttered.

"That's 'cause you've been lying on the floor for the past five minutes or so." Smirked Kouji.

Kouji and Haru arrived at the turquoise table just in time to see Mitsuki trip over her own feet. It took Kouji almost all his strength to prevent Haru from rescuing her until five minutes later when he gave up.

"Ahh! Mitsuki! Let me help you." shouted a frantic Haru on the verge of a breakdown. His beloved dream lady had fallen and the knight in shining armor was going to rescue her.

"So Hana was right, you are sort of clumsy." Said a vaguely familiar voice.

Mitsuki stood up rather wobbly and squinted her eyes at the source. [A/N: Note, never leave your face splat down on the floor for too long if you still want perfect vision after standing up] "Koata san!" She gasped. The ever-tanned bishonen winked at her and smiled in a friendly manner. Meanwhile, our dear Haru Aida was on the verge of ANOTHER mental breakdown as he silently sulked at the exchange between the two.

"Hey Mit, just call me Shun." He offered.

Tora smiled cheekily at Mitsuki while Kouji appeared shock at the luck that followed Mitsuki right after her 'downfall'. Although, he stiffened when he looked up and caught the face of his brother, Kyou Soukou. Feeling his brother's murderous glare on him, Kyou turned for a brief moment and gave Kouji the challenging eye. Seating beside Kyou, Hanako Mai looked on nervously at what might soon be the battle of the century if neither one gives in. Miraculously, Kouji broke eye contact with his brother and turned away furiously, clenching his fists so tight the knuckles turned white.

"So, let's begin a new round of introductions everybody!" chimed Tora enthusiastically. "First off, over here at this specially reserved turquoise table, we have Kyou Soukou!"

Mitsuki spun her head at the speed of light at the mention of Kyou's name. She took in his features carefully and thought back to when she last encountered him…

            [Flashback]

It had been a rainy day that year. The monsoon floods were one of the worst that Japan had seen over a century. Nearby, a young girl dressed in baby blue sunflower dress and a red pleated coat was sobbing quietly. She had taken her guardian's instructions on not to leave the building without her for granted. Softly in between hiccups, Mitsuki Kanji wished for her parents to be with her again. They had left Koshugawa for Kyoto two nights ago and Mitsuki was left with a mean hag who scrimped on every cent she had to spend on she and her brother. A boy of 6 passed by the area with his kendo stick. Dressed simply in a black jacket with a baseball hat and comfy khakis, he spotted the drenched Mitsuki sobbing hysterically beside a hydrangea bush. Out of pure curiosity, he walked towards her to ask why she had been crying. The boy loved the rain and simply couldn't understand why anybody could feel sad when it's raining. To him, it's the only forecast capable of making him smile. Mitsuki gasped when she sensed movement in front of her. A hand stuck out from nowhere to help her to her feet. Raindrops already making her face wet, her tears only served to further 'blurify' her sight.

"Why are you crying?" He asked innocently.

Puffy red eyes met his as she mouthed the word 'mummy' to him. The boy looked pitifully at the girl standing before him and patted her head, suddenly feeling very matured. "Don't cry. I can bring you home." Mitsuki stared at the wonder of his words. Her mind was only filled with thoughts of being able to reunite with her brother.

Gently, the boy took her hand and held it in mid air. Feeling a warm sensation overcome her, Mitsuki's tears stopped flowing and a radiant smile lit up her face. Soon, a small amount of faint orange light emitted from the point where their palms were pressed together. It wasn't uncommon to see such light. It was the power of the demons, Mitsuki had been told. Their special gift that humans even after centuries of alchemy, research and all sorts of evolution could not attain. These powers could be used for both good and evil. Mitsuki was struck by something horribly cold in that instant after the orange light disappeared. The droplets of rain haven't yet ceased their descend and her pigtails were completely drenched. Bits of her 'Neko lover' dress stuck to her skin and she hated that feeling. Realizing she had began to walk while being led by the boy with the baseball hat, she tried to make out the face of her 'hero' and really had the thought of marrying him right there and then for rescuing her. Such were the childish irrational thoughts of 5 year olds and their way of payment. Mitsuki felt the boy's grip on her hand loosen as they neared the T-junction where her house was located. She recognized the familiar landscapes [even that ugly life-sized garden gnome kept by ojisan Hashito] and felt glad to be home. Wanting to thank the boy, she was picked up by her guardian before she could utter any thanks. The boy bowed silently and took his cap off as a sign of respect to the elder before him [even though the guardian and he are not related, he knows enough manners to greet one more senior than him]. Slightly catching a glimpse of his face, Mitsuki blushed and swear to god she will always remember that face and thank him properly the next time she sees him. But before she could ask for his name, he left the place as swiftly as he appeared before Mitsuki in the rain.

            [End Flashback]

And now he was here. There was no doubt about it. For that fleeting moment when their eyes met each other, Mitsuki could swear it was 11 years back to the past again. Those exact eyes that bowed politely to her now estranged guardian. The same look of mysteriousness and these feeling of deja vu crept into her. There stood his royal highness, Kyou Soukou. The boy who had rescued her 11 years ago. Mitsuki had always planned her thank you speech to Kyou since way back. Now when she finally got the chance to, everything was blank. Her vast bank of vocabulary had in a matter of seconds been pathetically reduced to nil. In place of her brain now stood a pallid looking lump of thing [she imagined] with nerves attached but void of intelligence. She just stood there staring and staring at Kyou looking like a goldfish fascinated by its tank again due to its 3 seconds memory span. She just hoped Kyou wouldn't dismiss her as one of his madcap fan girl and look at her with disgust as she continued to be void of intelligence. The feeling of being hypnotized was absolutely horrible. She didn't even understand why she felt this way. So very pathetic.

What finally broke her trance wasn't the snap of a magician's finger. Rather, it was the snort someone in the background made. Kind of disgusting yes, but it woke her up.

"Mitsuki, meet Kyou." Said Tora. "And vice-versa." She then turned to Kyou and winked.

Mitsuki felt her face heat up as she once more dared herself to look at Kyou again. This time, the effect wasn't as bad. She slowly took in his chestnut [almost orange] hair and handsome features. Blushing again, she inwardly reminded herself she wasn't here to ogle at him, rather to be introduced as a friend, a part of their clique, and to finish her thank you from 11 years ago. It had been a long time ago and she wasn't even sure if he remembered the girl he helped during the year of monsoon [that was what the media had called it, many had lost their lives and the streets of Nippon had been constantly flooded with one of the worst monsoon season they had faced in about a century]. Surprisingly, what he said next shocked her.

            "It's you."

Short and simple. But it sent a thousand jolts to her Mitsuki's pallid lump in her head. He remembers! He remembers! She thought joyfully. Careful not to show any signs of desperation, Mitsuki nodded her head and prepared herself for the little thank you speech.

"Thank you for rescuing me that day. I wouldn't have known what to do if you hadn't stop by and extended a hand. I'm really grateful Soukou san." She said.

For a moment after her speech, she could have sworn she saw a ghost of a smile tugging the corners of Kyou's upper lips. But then again, he doesn't seem like he would smile that easily. Her speech wasn't even as inspirational as she thought it would be. Guess some things always seemed more intelligent when I don't say it out She thought wearily.

To her utter disappointment, Kyou Soukou never so much as acknowledge her thank you speech but just nodded his head.
