Please do not leave me, for what would remain?
What is this life without You, what am I?
The winter sun that slowly seems to gain
Warmth and promise, painting in the sky
Scent of flowers and the soft caress
Of willow catkins conjuring anew
Memories of a girl in bright green dress –
What are all these but sadness without You?
Without You I am just a grain of sand,
Slipping lonely from an opened hand,
Slipping down into a darkened sea,
Where restless waters eat away the shore,
Swallowed by the waves forevermore.
Please do not leave me, for what would I be?
