Northern Star, Southern Moon
Shee looked around. The stars were out, but the moon was cloaked by the clouds. The dirty street which she called her home was empty and desolate. The wizard had destroyed everything. All that was left was Shee and her statuette of a lizard. Her mother had given her it. She silently cursed the wizard for destroying the last thing she had to remember her family by.
Shee shed no tears as she left the place of her birth to seek adventure in the wide world beyond. Her silky silver blond hair streamed out behind her as she ran for cover. She had learned it was better to stay unnoticed over the years. She was considered beautiful as she resembled the Lady, the goddess of Shee's homeland, Kandari. The Lady had many names, one of which was Northern Star. She had the icy beauty of the stars, silver and cold.
The Lady had an evil sister, she who would take all from their prosperous land. She was the deity of the barbarian southerners. They called her Kronda, which, in the more civilised tongues meant Southern Moon. She was the opposite of the Lady, warm and golden, with sickeningly sweet words that would take you from the path of the light.
Shee thanked the Lady, or Sleena, for the covering of the moon. Now was not the time for Kronda to see her. Shee ran through the deserted streets and came to the edge of town. Dare she leave this town? It was only a little town after all, and she would find so much more in Janca, the capital city of Kandari. Perhaps she would find out why her mother had left her in a dirty street with her father who was capable of so many evil things.
Taking one last look at the only place she had ever known, Shee stepped out of the town limits without a second thought. As she left, one thought was in her head, swirling and angry. She would prove herself as more than a pretty pet, capable of great things, of adventure. The thought was to keep her going for many days, until she reached the Abbey.
