Longing
A. Roxanne McLeod
Longing holds me near, dear to itself.
When I lay my head down, I long for someone to take away this frown.
To hold me close, and let me dream free.
I wish I had someone here, so I could sleep without fear.
Just to hold me in their arms, and like a treasure that is rare.
I want to be snuggled close, but continue to be free
I want nothing more, and only wish for.
Someone to whisper in my ear, as I sleep so I won't fear.
Comfort me when I awake, screaming, and calm me from the shake.
Where are you? My beloved you.
I don't even know your name, but maybe I do? Is it still the same?
