Broken Shadows

In the wake of things to come,
I slip too much, and come undone,
I fall through dreams and nightmares too,
Wishing I were more like you.

I pick up peices from the floor,
Rebuild them as they were before,
There are gaps where I refuse,
To fix the past I did not choose.

I close my eyes, and wish that I,
Were far away, I'll say goodbye,
And as I watch them all depart,
I feel an ache within my heart.

My corner begs me to return,
Telling me I'll never learn,
And shadows, breathing on their own,
They invite me to come home.
