A Precious Gem

How the darkness covered
My soul and my kind heart,
When nothing could be seen here,
Nothing could be heard.
I felt my life was over,
My final grave mistake,
How could I lose my light,
How could I break my wings?
The guardian's call had softened,
To me his light blew out.
So lost in my own misery,
So full of shame and doubt.
But now my eyes can truly see,
Beauty, life, sincerity.
No demons here to haunt the night,
No darkness to hide the internal light.
Winged Guardian, my angel, my friend,
If only you could see me now,
Stronger and willing to go on.
No pain to kill my dreams,
No more worrying for your life.
A precious gem cracks,
But never shatters.
