Sea side Buddha

I was enlightened
Whilst walking along the sand with you
Some misjudge true happiness
They feel they need material things to be at peace
But I, here with you
Ankle deep in soft soothing sand
Scraping the years away from my feet
With nothing but the clothes I wear
And the song in my heart
And the joys of your presence and that of the evening sun
The cry of gulls over head
The lap of an endless ocean at my feet
The salt wind playing through my soul
Here with you I have found true and lasting happiness
Even when I leave this place behind
Cross the bridge back to mortality
The dangers of city life and love and hate
I will carry this piece of heaven in my heart
Two steps from Buddhahood and falling
I smile and take your hand in mine
Tomorrow we come again
