A/N:  Well, you've reached 'Aurora's random thoughts' for tonight with this one little songfic.  ^-^ It was something that I had thought of earlier; and had to get down on paper.  It's much different than what I'm usually writing, so bear with me, won't you?  ^^ I wished to try something a bit different.  ^-^ This is inspired by both a great friend of mine's wonderful story; and some events that took place with a couple of my fellow homies.  ^-^ Well, enough of my rambling.  ^^7 Enjoy!  ^-^

DISCLAIMER:  MINE!  MINE!  MINE!  ::hisses and wards off the plagiarists with a flaming sword::   ;;  Eh heh heh.  ^^;; Y'all get the idea.  ^^7 I do not own however, the two songs featured in this story.  If I was, I wouldn't be working in a grocery store.  ^^;; So, yeah.  Not my songs, there, guys!  ^-^ The first is owned by the makers of Pocahontas; and the last, which is featured in the bold, is owned by All American Rejects.  ^-^ Thanks to a dear friend for showing me the latter.  3 So, yeah.  All mine except the songs, kthnx.  ^^

…If I never knew you
If I never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be

Jaden looked out onto the blue, sparkling lake in his backyard.  A lonely sigh escaped him, as he couldn't help but go back.  Back to a time when he was actually happy.  Back when he could smile and truly mean it.  Back before his only love had been taken away from him so tragically that one, moonless night.

It had only been a year; but Jaden could still see it all.  He could still reel the one night in the back of his mind like an on-going movie.  The night when the only treasure he had come to know; and his reason for living was taken away from him.

And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I find in you
The missing part of me

They had been driving to the movies; wishing to catch a late-night flick after a romantic dinner on the lake; the whirring of the motor, and nature's night symphony the only sounds amongst the two lovers smiling, and talking gently amongst themselves.  Enjoying their time, and this moment, as an engaged couple.

Jaden was on cloud nine for more than one reason.  He had had a plan that night.  A plan to put into action right after the movies.  A plan in which would win the heart of the one he had loved so dearly for all eternity.  But, little did these two young individuals in love know- that their eternity was soon to be cut short.

In this world so full of fear
Full of rage and lies
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes, so dry your eyes

It had haunted his dreams; the tragedy to end all tragedies.  He could still picture it in his thoughts; time seeming to stop, as their Chrystler came in contact with that one red Pontiac doing over seventy in that thirty-five mile per hour zone.  The impact sent a shower of shard 'diamonds,' as a single scream emitted from the eerie silence that had suddenly lingered over them.

Jaden watched in horror, as the car pulled a 360; eventually being tossed like a feather in the wind into the black abyss of night; the guardrail giving no support; as the car burst through the silvery, metal railing- plunging deep down into the river bend below.

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

The car of teenagers had made a break for it- leaving the couple alone; laughing in their departure, and leaving the young people to suffer alone; crashed onto the group of rocks, just a few feet from the raging waters of the vast, mountain stream.

Sitting there with no words to say; Jaden watched the love of his life.  Once known for being beautiful, and flawless- now mangled, and surrounded by their own blood; their tiny thread of life starting to be cut away from them. All the shocked, young man could do is watch, and wait.

If I never knew you
I'd be safe, but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true

Tonight had been their four year anniversary; the night in which Jaden thought would be the best of his very mortal life.  His angel had looked the most beautiful that they ever had been, he thought; the bouquet of crimson roses still being placed delicately upon their lap; just smiling, and gazing out onto the clear, star-filled sky.

He had complimented his love many times of their beauty; to which brought a smile to the second party's face.  No one had truly supported their relationship; but they didn't care.  They were in love.  And being different wasn't about to get in the way of what was, and had blossomed before them since they had met back in their ninth grade year.

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

They had met in homeroom; Jaden being attracted to his angel's innocent shyness; the two instantly striking up a friendship; and eventually beginning to see more, and more of each other.  Two best friends lost in a world of coldness and cruelty.  A world in which they couldn't wait to get out and conquer together.

The prom had brought them a few confused; and some angry stares; but the two young people not giving a second glance; proudly walking into that ballroom hand in hand; dancing the night away under the silvery rays of the disco ball that hung above the dark cedar dance floor.  Just the two of them, and the powers of love.

I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we'd make the whole world right
I never knew that fear and hate could be so strong
But still my heart is saying we were right
We were right

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

All of that seemed so far away now, as Jaden sat there helpless; the mangled and twisted remains of what was once a perfect angel fighting for their life in his embrace; the voice of the shattered soul begging for his love to hold on; and for them not to leave him.

Jaden couldn't believe that just a few moments ago; he was dining on the calm, crystal waters of the lake with the same form that was lying there gasping for breath in his arms.  He couldn't understand how someone could do this to them.  And all because they were not like the other, 'normal' people of the world.  One final release of air brought Jaden to tears.  He did not even have to turn towards the passenger side to figure it out.  The one he had loved was gone.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

And if I never knew you
If I never knew you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Empty as the sky
Never knowing why

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Jaden couldn't take it any longer.  He needed to get out.  He needed to escape the house in which had once held so much love, and dreams.  The place in which he and the love of his life had shared since graduation.  The once-sanctuary; now swirling desert of broken dreams.  The mansion of tangled hopes, and shattered, diamond tears.

The ride down to the river bend was instant; Jaden's thoughts filled with that one night- not even paying attention as to what was going on; stopping the car, and stepping out onto the rough, un-fixed blacktop; dragging something in his right hand.

He stopped to gaze down at the very site of where his treasure had been ripped from his grasp; now bursting with new, spring life, and the slight hint of polar ice caps placed upon the top of the still-flowing river- causing it to seem mirror-like, and glacial blue; yet another sigh escaping the figure standing upon the newly fixed, silver guardrail.

He stopped to gaze for a moment, giving no care to whoever heard him; a faint, but longing melody seeming to flow out from him suddenly- his sapphire eyes laced on that one, certain spot:

…"Emotions they stir…The sun is gone the nights are long…And I am left while the tears fall…Did you think
that I would cry on the phone?...Do you know what it feels like being alone?...I'll find someone new…Swing, swing, swing from the tangles of…My heart is crushed by a former love…Can you help me find a way to carry on again?... Can you help me find a way to carry on again?..."

As he finished up the final verse; he let a bouquet of fresh, crimson roses float gently into the wind; landing upon the surface of the water.  He watched the river take them from site, as a vow found it's way into his heart.  He would never love again.
