Angel_Kitty_of_Light: I'm writing a songfic! Based on the song "My Immortal"

Light in the Storm

I'm so tired of being here

Suppressed by all of my childish fears

And if you have to leave

I wish that you would just leave

Because your presence still lingers here

And it won't leave me alone

"Get out!" Alice McCoy shouted to her now ex-boyfriend. "Just leave!" She glared at him, icy fire hiding the tears burning under her eyes, threatening to well over at any moment.

"Oh, come on, can't we work it out, baby?" He pleaded.

"No." the girl responded icily. Then she slammed the door in his face, sending him sprawling out into the bone-chilling rain. She walked over to a chair, and collapsed down on it. Holding herself tightly, Alice finally allowed her tears to over flow onto her cheeks as painful, unwanted memories drifted through her mind.

These wounds won't seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There's just too much that time cannot erase

She thought about how she had come to this. The pre-break-up fight had started after she had seen him kissing the other girl, who's name escaped her.

"Why, why?" She wondered helplessly aloud.

The only response she received was the pouring rain.

When you cried I'd wipe all of your tears

When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears

And I held your hand through all of these years

But you still have all of me

She walked over to a drawer in the near-by kitchenette, and slowly pulled it open. The silver of the knives' blades reflected vibrantly.

Choosing what she thought was the sharpest one; Alice held it up to the light and examined it.

"Death." She murmured darkly.

She brought the point of the blade to her wrist, and created the tiniest cut. She enjoyed the blood flowing down, staining her skin red.

'There is no point in life anymore.' She thought. 'No matter how well I treated him, it simply wasn't enough. At least not enough to keep him away from that other girl.'

You used to captivate me

By your resonating light

But now I'm bound by the life you left behind

Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams

Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

She deepened the cut, allowing more blood to flow. She looked around the room, figuring it would be the last time she saw it.

Her eyes stopped on a picture.

Henry.

These wounds won't seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There's just too much that time cannot erase

Henry. He was always there for her, and had helped her during all the ups and downs of life.

Perhaps he was worth living for?

The thought made Alice reconsider.

When you cried I'd wipe all of your tears

When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears

And I held your hand through all of these years

But you still have all of me

Alice dropped the knife, and picked up the picture. She stared into his slate-gray eyes, and wondered whether he could be worth living for.

A knock at the door startled her.

She walked over to answer it, and pulled the door open.

Henry was standing there.

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone

And though you're still with me

I've been alone all along

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"I just had. . .this feeling. This feeling that you'd need someone tonight." He said.

"Oh." Was all Alice said.

"Can I come in?" Henry asked her.

"I guess." Alice said. She backed away from the door to let him in.

"Thanks." Henry said. He immediately noticed the knife. More importantly, he noticed the blood on the knife.

He woodenly walked over, and picked up the knife.

"Alice," He said, looking straight at the girl. "What happened?"

Tears of shame and pain welled up in Alice's eyes. She walked over and pulled Henry close to her, not caring how awkward it may be. She needed someone to hold her close again; someone to bring her back to life; someone to make her life worth living.

When you cried I'd wipe all of your tears

When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears

And I held your hand through all of these years

But you still have all of me

Henry was surprised at her sudden display of emotion, but something told him she needed someone now more than ever. He wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her close, not ready to let her get away quite yet.

Alice buried her face in his shoulder, and allowed salty wet tears to slip down her face.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, glancing up at him. "I just felt so alone."

"Alice," He whispered back. "You're never alone."

She smiled. It was a fairly weak smile, but to Henry it was the most radiant smile it the world. It meant now she was almost happy, and she was going to live. He couldn't help but smile back at her.

Alice noticed now, in the silence, that the rain had stopped falling. The sun shone through the windows.

"Henry," she said, turning around to face him again.

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

"For what, Alice?"

"For being the light in the storm."

Angle_Kitty_of_Light: Okay, that's all.
