Title: What is left
Author: Heather P.

What are you left with,
When the crust falls from your eyes?
And all the questions refuse to die,
When light seems overbearing and not at all inspiring.

What do we have left,
When faced with all those things that are true?
When we find we were wrong all along,
And everything we clung to was a lie.

Truth becomes an empty void,
Which we could fill, if we wanted to, with beauty,
Or vile things,
And make a mess of it all over again.

But that raises the question of absolute truth,
Does that even exist?
Because what if truth really is pain?
Then maybe that too is a lie.

Ultimately ---
It is up to us to decide.
