Chapter One

It was a beautiful sunny day in the state of White Plains New York. A young boy walked the down the sidewalk of main street. His dirty blond hair was softly blowing everywhere from the little winds, and his green eyes shone brightly with unshed tears. His freckles across the bridge of his nose showed more now then ever, now that the sun shined on his face. His hands were shoved deep into his black UFO pants pockets, and his white T- shirt stretched nicely across his chest. His head was down as he walked the busy sidewalks. As he walks he accidentally bumps into something. or rather someone.

"Ump." Was the sound that came out of 16-year-old Jesse McCartney's mouth. "Sorry." He mumbled afterward.

"Oh. That's OK, I wasn't watching where I was going either." Came a soft voice.

Jesse looked up and it was like he was looking at an angel. The girl's hair was a soft natural brown colour and it softly tumbled over her shoulders. Her hazel eyes, he noticed, glowed. And her smile could light up the world. It seemed the smile reached up to her eyes. Jesse could see she had only a few freckles across her nose, but they were very faint. She wore a light pink tank top that matched with her jean skirt that reached down to the top of her knees. Jesse looked down and noticed that her sandals matched with her top, and her toenails were painted a light pink as well.

The young girl noticed that she was being looked over and flushed. Lowering her eye lashes she spoke. "Hi. My names Jasmin." And she stuck her hand out.

Jesse looked at the hand before taking it. Her hand fit perfectly within his own. "Hi. I'm Jesse."

"It's nice to meet you." Jasmin replied.

"You too." Jesse agreed.

The two looked up into each other's eyes and just stared. There was an instant attraction and both of them knew it. Jasmin slowly smiled, and it brought one to Jesse's face as well. Making him forget all his problems.

"Did you want to go get some coffee or something?" Jesse heard himself asking.

"Sure." Jasmin agreed.

Jesse and Jasmin started walking towards Starbucks that was across the street. They looked both ways and then started walking, but before they made it to the curb, a car came screeching down the street. Just before it hit Jasmin Jesse pulled her against him, out of the way.

It took a couple minutes before both of them could regain their breath from the almost accident. And Jesse realized how perfect her body felt against his. "A-are you okay?" Jasmin asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." Jesse answered. "What about you?"

"J-just a little scared is all. Thanks for saving me. Jesse."

He looked down at her and smiled and she smiled back. "Your welcome."

"Come on. Let's get that coffee. My treat."

They finally reached Starbucks and entered. They found a table near the back and sat down. "So, do you live around here?" Jesse asked.

"Yup. I used to live in Manhattan though, I moved here like 2 months ago. What about you?" She answered.

"Yeah. I used to live in Westchester for a long time. Then moved here last year. What school do you go to?"

"Um. I think it's called Ardsley? I'm not sure, but I've been going there for about 2 weeks. Everyone's really nice though."

"You're kidding? You go there? So do I." Jesse replied surprised and glad at the same time.

"Really? That's weird, I've never seen you around." Jasmin added surprised as well. In the pit of her stomach she was really happy.

"Oh. That's because I haven't been there. um. family stuff." Jesse answered.

"Oh I see." Jasmin said and Jesse nodded in agreement. Jasmin looked at Jesse and there was a pleading look in his eyes that told her not to press it any farther. So she didn't. "How old are you?"

"16." He answered. "You?"

"15. I'm turning 16 in March though." 'So he's a year older than me. that could explain not ever seeing him before. different grades are on different floors. but I don't think that's it. There's something he isn't telling me.' Jasmin thought to herself.

"Cool. So what kind of drink do you want? I'll go and get them." Jesse asked.

"No. I'll get them and it's my treat. After all, you did safe my life. So I owe you. for like ever." Jasmin replied and laughed.

Jesse laughed as well, and he realized that was the first time he had actually laughed in a while. "Yeah. You owe me forever." He laughed again.

"What do you want to drink?" Jasmin asked.

"Um. a mocha."

"OK. I'll be right back." Jasmin replied and Jesse nodded.

5 minutes later Jasmin came back carrying two cups. She placed one in front of Jesse. "Mocha for you, and Ice cap for me."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

They drank in silence for about 15 minutes. But it was a comfortable silence; there was no need for talking. They were comfortable with each other. Jasmin then looked at her watch, "Oh dear. It's 5:00 already, I got to get home." She looked up at Jesse and smiled. "Thanks for everything, I had a great time Jesse."

Jesse nodded. "Yeah me too Jasmin. Thanks for the mocha."

Jasmin got up and replied; "Maybe I'll see you around at school." She hesitated before bending down and giving Jesse a kiss on the cheek. "Bye."

He looked up at Jasmin surprised. "Uh. yeah. See ya." Then she left, and that's when he realized he hadn't asked for her number or anything. He quickly got up to catch up, but when he got outside. she was nowhere in sight.
