Sayoko Pass lived in Hiroshima. She attended a high school where teenagers in their senior year were forced to compress oxygen for submarines. Even after she received her diploma, she was forced to continue this hard job. Mrs. Pass moved to Lake Placid, Florida and married a serviceman. When she was married, she was asked if she hated Americans because of the war. She replied, "This was war; it has nothing to do with the person. He didn't make the war." She is currently 77 years old. "I'm 77 years old and I'm still alive. They said that the average person who lived through Hiroshima is 67, but I'm still standing." She still lives in Lake Placid with her husband. Her grown children were also affected by the radioactive poisoning.
