An Imperfection

An imperfection broke one day

Like the wilting of a thornless rose.

Petal upon petal, tear upon tear,

An imperfection more imperfect than before.

An imperfection stood by a grave

Ran a finger where there was no name.

Grass stains blurred her porcelain knees,

An imperfection more imperfect than before.

An imperfection died one day

In drops of liquid glass

Shining in the morning sun,

An imperfection more perfect than before.
