Chapter 1
Tuesday September 4th ------------------- The first day of school
A new town a strange place to live a new school and a new life and I do this all for hockey! What is wrong with me!
I suppose if I want to do this for a career I better be able to live 500km from home.
The first day, well I think it went pretty well. I have a class with one of my team mates that was here last year so he should be able to show me around I would think at least.
Lunch was strange. Us guys we have a certain table we sit at I guess I don't know I'm just going by Jason's talk about last year. As we sat down I noticed this bunch of girls sitting at the far end of the table giggling. Must be fans I thought no big deal better get use to that!
Now that I think about it and keep looking down there this brunette that is pretty hot, looks to be about my age I don't know though might be a little older.
Of course I'm not gunna go right over and talk to her maybe when they walk by I might say something, or I might wait and see if she's at the game on Friday night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thursday at School~~~~~~~~~~~
She keeps looking at me!!!!!!! I'm thinking maybe she likes me or something I don't know!!!! I should ask Jason if he knows who she is or not but not now probably tonight at practice if no one else is around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Practice~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey Jas" I asked while we were entering the change room "Ya man what's up?" he replied. "You know that bunch of girls that sit down at the end of our table at lunch do you know the brunette's name?" I asked while there was no one else in the room.
"I think her name is Jessica she's in the 12th grade like you and I. Why you think she's cute or something?" He said smiling.
"No, I just saw her looking down at us today and she was kind of looking at me." I said half mumbling.
"Oh. Well I think her name is Jessica." "Thanks" I replied unlacing my skates. "No problem man. Hey I know she's a fan so she may be here tomorrow night." He replied. "Thanks" I said shoving the skate in my bag and picking up my stuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Friday at lunch in the cafeteria ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Jas, she's looking at me" I mumbled low to him sitting beside me. "Yeah, your right. Maybe you should talk to her Drew" "No!!!! No!!!! I can't do that no way!!!" I replied.
We finished lunch and left the caf the first bell rang for classes and I was at my locker when I saw this shadow. "Hey Jas, I'll be there in 30secs go ahe-" except it wasn't him it was Jessica! "Sorry" I mumbled "That's alright" She said. "By the way I'm Jessica its Andrew right?" "Yeah, call me Drew though." SHE KNOWS WHO I AM!!! This is beginning to scare me! "Thanks, you too. You're a big hockey fan I take it?" I asked. Thought at least I would make small talk. I closed my locker door and started up the hall towards my class her at my side. "Yeah, I can't skate but I love the sport. Well I shouldn't say I can't skate because I can I just can't skate that well." "Well that's cool. We could always change that. You coming to the game tonight?" I knew the answer but it was that small talk thing. "Wouldn't miss it for the world!" She said. "It's the season opener!" "Cool I'm number 6. I'm playing tonight" As if she didn't already know this since she knew my name already. "Cool I'll watch for you. This is my class. Nice chatting Drew" "You too Jessica see ya!" Wow she's amazing! She's so not shy, all the girls back home wouldn't dare talk to me, unless its just because I play hockey, though I doubt that.
Friday night at the game. "Ok Drew your on second line up, with Jason, playing left ok?" Coach said to me. "Whatever you say coach" I replied "Hey Drew. Did you talk to Jessica yet?" Jason asked in a sort of whisper as everyone was getting ready to head out. "Actually yes! She came up to me at lunch and I thought she was you. She introduced herself and said she was a big hockey fan and would be here tonight. I told her my number and to look for it on the ice." "Awesome! That's a good start!" He said giving me a big pat on the back. "Hey they are calling us out we better get going" I said energized and ready to hit the ice for my first official game. Well practice has to come first of course but this time it's in front of a crowd and with the opposing team on the other side of the arena. "Yeah lets go!" He replied as the music started and everyone headed for the ice. End of chapter 1
